Wroxham Signalbox

Welcome to Wroxham Signalbox

Wroxham Signalbox is a lovingly restored piece of railway heritage located beside the Bittern Line in Wroxham, Norfolk. Operated entirely by volunteers, this unique preserved signalbox offers a rare glimpse into the fascinating world of traditional railway signalling.

Explore the interior of a real working signalbox, complete with the original lever frame and mechanical signalling system. Learn how trains were safely managed before the digital age, try pulling a few levers yourself, and speak to our volunteers who are always happy to explain the equipment and tell a story or two.

You’ll also find interactive exhibits, model railways, historical displays, and activities for younger visitors — making it a hit with train lovers of all ages.

Visiting Us

The Wroxham Signalbox is open to the public on selected weekends and event days throughout the year. Entry is free, though donations are warmly welcomed to help support ongoing restoration and education efforts. We’re located just a short walk from Wroxham & Hoveton Station — why not stop by during your day out in the Norfolk Broads?

How to find us: There is public car parking on Roys carpark, close to the station. Follow the signs to the railway station, passing under the railway bridge towards the Bure Valley Railway, and you will see the Signalbox in front.

Opening days: We do not yet have regular set times for the Signalbox to open, as we are dependent on having volunteers who can staff it for us. Please keep an eye on this website for the most up to date opening times.
