Volunteer with us
Barton House Railway and Wroxham Signalbox are run entirely by volunteers. We need passionate people like you to help keep our heritage railway alive! Whether you’re a train enthusiast, enjoy working with visitors, or just want to give back to the community, there’s a role for everyone.
We are happy to welcome all ages to our Trust. Barton House Railway volunteers be considered from the age of ten, working on the railway as guards and porters.
Volunteer roles
We’d love to hear from anyone interested in volunteering with us, but here are some examples roles we are in need of.
Administration: This role would help support the work of the Trust behind the scenes, managing our enquiries for bookings and supporting the website.
Guards and Porters: These vital roles help the railway run as it would of in the 1950s.
Signalling: This crucial role ensures the safe running of the railway in our authentic signalbox.
Ticket Office: This role is focussed on our visitors, selling travel tickets and providing information on how to make the best of their day.
Boat Attendants: We operate a boat shuttle service for visitors from Wroxham Bridge and are always looking for volunteers to help with our boat.
